Ubisofthas addressed one of the major controversies surroundingAssassin’s Creed Shadowswith its day one patch, fixing various bugs and resolving a significant issue related to temples and shrines.
Assassin’s Creed ShadowsDay One Patch
Now available onPS5, Xbox Series, and PC,Assassin’s Creed Shadowshas had the best launch of any Ubisoft game on Steam. With the game officially out, updates and patches are rolling in to refine the experience. The day one patch is already available, and among its fixes, it tackles a major controversy that even drew strong criticism from Japan’s Prime Minister.
The issue in question involved the destruction of furniture within temples and shrines, a highly sensitive matter given their sacred nature. Ubisoft has now fixed this by making most objects within these buildings indestructible, including tables and shelves—though some generic objects like drums and bowls remain destructible.

Additional Fixes in the Day One Patch
Beyond that, the day one patch for Assassin’s Creed Shadows addresses various other bugs, including:
Improvements have also been made to horse navigation, cave and structure lighting, and fabric clipping issues in Yasuke’s and Naoe’s outfits. Additionally, unarmed civilians no longer bleed when attacked, and in line with showing more respect to sacred sites, unintended blood spills in temples and shrines have been reduced.

As mentioned in ourreview:“I had hoped that this would be my favorite Assassin’s Creed, but when I sit back and reflect on my experience, I find that the narrative and story bring down the overall score. However, the core gameplay remains similar to previous titles and will provide a comparable level of enjoyment for players.”
