In 2022, the filming for the movie had concluded, leaving director Francis Lawrence unable to provide the precise runtime since it would take a considerable period of post-production before finalization. Nevertheless, Lawrence did express her anticipation that the film’s duration would extend beyond the two-hour mark.
While undoubtedly, many of us would readily endure a three-hour Panem backstory, Lawrence is aiming to keep the runtime comfortably below that three-hour threshold.
“I want it to be shorter than that,”Francis Lawrence said at the time,“but I know that Catching Fire I think was like 2:26 or something. I think it was about 2:26 with credits. I think it’ll be longer than that, but I’m really hoping it’s not a 3-hour movie.”
However, according to The Movie Database, the film’s final runtime is 2 hours 45 minutes, making it the longest film in the franchise.The cast ofThe Ballad of Songbirds and Snakesincludes Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Hunter Schafer, Peter Dinklage, Viola Davis, Jason Schwartzman, and Laurel Marsden.
