You’ve finally found a way to unlock the West Gate Path inBlue Prince, revealing a strange new door at the end of the trail. Opening it displays a range of brand-new rooms to draft, each of which has a staggeringly strange effect on the player.

Blue Prince: How to Open the West Gate Path

How to open the brown gate outside of the manor, permanently.

It can be hard to choose which Outer Room to draft each day, especially if you don’t understand the true purpose of each room. That’s where we come in, since we’ve fully explored all of the possibilities within each of the eight Outer Rooms.

8Schoolhouse

Nobody likes homework

The Schoolhouse lands at the bottom of our list due to it being pretty useless (and borderline harmful) outside of completing the main objective related to it.

The goal of the Schoolhouse is to draft all eight Classrooms in one day in order to unlock the Final Exam, which tests you on everything you learned in the previous room. It’s extremely hard and not really worth it.

Blue Prince Outer Room (2)

The Toolshed is simple and straightforward: two special items (tools) are put inside for you to grab for free. Shovels, sledgehammers, metal detectors, and even rarer items like the wrench are all on the list of items you’re able to find.

The list of possible items is long, so there’s a chance that one or both of the items won’t be useful. Considering the game-changing effects of the other outer rooms, this one is pretty tame.

What do I do with all these gems?

If you find yourself running out of gems constantly, then you should definitely try drafting the Hovel when you spot it, replacing each required gem with three units of movement.

The game isn’t exactly balanced to account for swapping gems and movement, so be sure to take any opportunity to spawn some extra food or bedrooms. We also recommend tracking down a Sleeping Mask, Running Shoes and a Salt Shaker (and maybe a Silver Spoon if you’re able to afford one).

5Root Cellar

You better find a shovel

The Root Cellar spreads extra dig spots inside every room you draft, making it much easier to gain coins and keys if you have a shovel. These dig spots don’t only spawn in rooms that they normally spawn in, and can literally pop up anywhere inside the manor.

If you don’t have a shovel, this room is essentially useless, and ends up being more frustrating than neutral when you run out of supplies. We recommend drafting a workshop to upgrade your shovel, granted you’re able to find the materials.

4Trading Post

The barter system is alive in Mt. Holly

The Trading Post allows you to trade items like tools, special keys, and even showroom items for different items and materials. This can come in handy late in the day when you’re short on keys or need to track down a component for crafting.

The Trading Post also contains a puzzle box, which can be solved to reveal an Allowance Token inside, granting you two extra coins at the start of each day. There’s also a stick of dynamite next to the wall, the fuse of which can be lit if you use the right contraption.

Get to the vault!

The Shelter cancels out the negative effect of the first three red rooms you draft for the day, essentially adding three new multi-door rooms to your drafting pile with no gem requirements. Be careful when drafting the aquarium, as it also counts as a red room in this circumstance.

A list of invaluable advice that any Blue Prince player could use during their playthroughs.

The Shelter also contains a safe with a time-sensitive lock, which you’re able to set to unlock on a specific date and time with the computer next to it. If you’re looking for another one of the red letters, we recommend trying to crack this one open.

Make an offering for great rewards

The Shrine allows the player to make an offering of gold coins in exchange for a “blessing,” which comes in the form of a unique buff that lasts up to five days after making the offering.

There are a total of eight unique blessings that the player can be given, including adding a ton of courtyards to your draft pool, adding extra meals to the dining room, gaining the ability to rotate floorplans when drafting and gaining the ability to draft normal rooms in the Outer Room location.

Enter the underworld

Our choice for the best Outer Room to draft is the Tomb, which spreads 5 gold inside for every dead end room that you draft inside the house. This isn’t where the benefits stop, though, as the Tomb contains multiple secret passages to new puzzles and prizes.

The Tomb contains a ton of secrets, the biggest of which is an extra entrance to the basement that does not require a key. If you want a hint on how to unlock the secret passage, we recommend drafting the Chapel and looking for some familiar figures in the art on the walls.
