The Electra Team releasedChimerav1.2.8 to the general public Sunday evening with support for iOS 12.4 on A9-A11 devices withiOS 12.4installed, a move that closely mirrors onemade by Pwn20wnd with the unc0ver jailbreak toolSunday morning.
The Electra Team announced the update just minutes agovia Twitter:
The Electra Team mentions that the success rate is lower on iOS 12.4 than it is on earlier versions of iOS, but suggests that if theSock Puppetexploit fails once on iOS 12.4, that users retry a second time without rebooting. As it would seem, this generally works to great success.
While it’s nice to now have two iOS 12.4-centricjailbreaktools to choose from, it’s worth noting that Chimera only supports A9-A11 devices running iOS 12.4 at the time of this writing while unc0ver supports A7-A11 devices running iOS 12.4. With that in mind,unc0ver is currently compatible with more devices. Neither tool supports A12(X) devices running iOS 12.4, however.
Like all previous versions of the Electra Team’s Chimera jailbreak tool, v1.2.8 installsSileoand Substitute for package management and tweak injection rather than Cydia and Cydia Substrate, the latter of which is used byunc0ver.
