Divinity: Original Sin 2 is in full swing, and one of the major issues players are having with the game isBuilds. WhatBuilddo I use? What’s a goodBuildfor a Warrior? Ranger? Mage? etc. Since the game is rather difficult this has come much more into focus than one would expect. In thisBuild Guidewere going to cover the electric Lone Wolf Build:Stormchaser. Let’s jump into thisBuildand see just how it works.

Stormchaser - Mage Build

TheStormchaseris an exceptionally high damage build that relies on Air Damage toStunits targets, andDodgingto avoid being struck by Weapon attacks.Stormchaserscan alsoSilencetheir enemies, making them have no choice but to attack with their Weapons, which will beDodged.Stormchasersneed very littlePhysical Armourbecause of this and really only need to deal with magical attacks, but only when their opponents aren’tSilenced. Playing aStormchaserrequires very highAir Resistancebecause Air Damage has a pretty good chance of finding its way back to its caster (you).

The stats on my Level 16 Stormchaser (Lone Wolf). You can see that I stack Air Resistance quite high, as you have a tendency to be struck by your own Air attacks, and this helps prevent you getting obliterated.

Stormchaser Attributes and Equipment

Stormchasersfocus primarily onIntelligenceto help increase their Air Damage, but they also need someWitsandMemoryto help increase theirCritical ChanceandInitiative, as well as help them slot the larger volume ofSkillsthey will need for thisBuild.Stormchasersshould focus onIntelligencethrough out Act 1, only putting points intoMemoryas necessary. Once they reach the middle Act 2 they will start to add points intoWitsto increase theirCritical ChanceandInitiative.

StormchasersutilizeIntelligence-based Armour, which is exactly what you want with thisBuildas 90% of the damage you take should be elemental.Stormchaserswill useSkillsthat allow them toDodgemost physical attacks, and so shouldn’t need muchPhysical Armour. Players should look forArmourthat hasAerotheurgeorIntelligenceon it to help increase their damage, but they will also needArmourwith a fair amount ofAir Resistanceas well. Finding aChest Armourand aShieldwithRune Slotscan really help in this regard, because you can dropThunder RunesorFrost Runes of Powerinto them to increase yourAir Resistance.

Magister’s Cloak and Livewood Shield are both excellent Armour for this Build. 2 Slots each and one has Intelligence and Air Resistance. Use your Frost Runes of Power and Thunder Runes to get your Air Resistance.

As far asWeaponsgo, you’ll want to use aWandandShieldfor maximumArmour. You won’t ever need to attack with yourWeapon, so we’ll take aWandhere just because you’ll have the correctAttributesfor it and they generally give a bonus toIntelligence. Always pick the one with best bonuses, not damage.Shieldswill help keep you alive, and will allow you to replenishArmouron yourself. They also come withRune Slots, which will allow you to not only increase yourAir Resistance, but also increase your damage (viaIntelligence) if you use aFrost Rune of Power.

Stormchaser Talents and Abilities

One of the hardest parts about making aBuildinDivinity: Original Sin 2is getting yourAbilitiesdistribution correct. It’s easy to get spread too thin, and often people make the mistake of not spreading points around enough. The bonuses you gain fromAbilitiesin this game are somewhat different than the original, so it’s easy to see why people can get confused. Let’s take a look at whatAbilitiesandTalentsyou need for aStormchaser.

Armour of Frost and Rain combined make a great case for 1 point into Hydrosophist. Rain reduces Air Resistance of targets by 20%, so that’s really good for this Build.

Divinity Original Sin 2 Build Guides: Radiant Battlemage

Stormchaserswant to focus onAerotheurgetrying to max it out as quickly as possible, as this is their main source of damage.Stormchasersalso need 2 points intoHuntsman, 2 points intoNecromancer, 1 point inHydrosophistand 1 point intoWarfare. All points not allocated to these things should be dumped intoPolymorphto increaseIntelligenceorWits(ifIntelligenceis maxed). This will allow for the properSkillsneeded for thisBuild, as well as keeping damage as high as possible.

As far asTalentsgo I’d recommend the following:

Lone Wolf- ThisTalentmakes thisBuildpossible, so it is listed here first. you may still play thisBuildoutside ofLone Wolf, but it doesn’t work quite as well.

Executioner- This should be the secondTalentyou take because it works really well with thisBuild. You’ll need 1 point intoWarfareto get it, but it’s worth it as it can trigger once per round.

Divinity Original Sin 2 Builds: Elusive Enchanter (Mage)

Savage Sortilege- ThisTalentis a must for thisBuildas it allows your spells toCritical Hit. However, you won’t need it right away because you won’t have muchCritical Chanceearly on in the game. Take this around the beginning of Act 2 if you can.

Mnemonic- ThisTalentworks really well with thisBuildbecause you will be using manySkillsthat require 2Memory. This one will help ease the burden of points intoMemory.

Hothead- Another very goodTalentfor thisBuildsince you shouldn’t take a whole lot of damage. Can really help you increase yourCritical Damage.

Far Out Man- Will increase the range of many of yourSkillsby 2 meters. This isn’t the greatestTalentfor thisBuildbecause you’re trying to get close anyway, but it can help you reach that one target just out of range.

Elemental Affinity- ThisTalentwould be listed higher if it wasn’t so hard to maintain. Electrified water or clouds are not hard to create, but you have to constantly move with thisBuildto hit the desired targets, and they don’t generally like to walk in these things.

Stormchaser Skills

Now that you’ve decided whichTalentsandAbilitiesyou want, you’ll need to identify just whichSkillswork best with this kind of setup.Stormchaserswill use a nearly entirelyAerotheurge Skillswith a couple miscellaneousSkillsfrom other lines. This allows them to deal maximum damage and focus on what really matters,Shockingthe shit out of everything! SinceBuildsevolve over the course of the game, I’m going to put theSkillsin order from earliest obtainable to latest, because you won’t be able to get them all right way.

Aerotheurge Skills

Blinding Radiance- This skill is one of the many AoEs thisBuildpossesses that also applies some sort of negativeStatus Effect(in this caseBlinded). Unleash it on as many targets as you’re able to at once. Also grants 20%Air Resistance, which is nice.

Electric Discharge- A decent ranged skill with ok damage. Use this when you can’t get in range to use closer proximitySkills, or to finish off a weak target who is far away.

Shocking Touch- Does about 10% more damage thanElectric Discharge, which isn’t a whole lot, but is still better. Use this after you’ve used a good AoE skill to finish off a remaining enemy.

Erratic Wisp- An excellent 1 AP skill that increases yourAir Resistanceby 40%, which is what you’ll really use it for. The fact you teleport when struck is just an added bonus.

Vacuum Touch- Deals Air Damage and setsSuffocationandSilence. This skill is another reason you want to be close to your targets. Silence will force the target to attack you with a Weapon, which will beDodged.

Uncanny Evasion- This skill is one of the few defensive skills thisBuildhas and this one is a must. For 1 AP you’ll be virtually un-hittable during the enemies' round (except by magic spells). Get this one as soon as you’re able to.

Teleportation- A great all around skill both in and out of combat. You’ll use this during fights to move enemies into range so you can AoE more than 1 target (ideally 3 or more).

Evasive Aura- We use this just likeUncanny Evasion, for theDodgechance. Cost 1 more AP thanUncanny Evasionand also costs 1 SP, so it’s not as good, but still necessary to keep from being hit.

Vacuum Aura- This skill is absolutely awesome and is a must have. Costs 2 AP and 1 SP but canStun,Shock,SilenceandSuffocateenemies in a huge AoE.Silenceas many enemies as you may so they are forced to attack into your highDodge.

Dazing Bolt- Has a hefty cost at 3 AP, but deals substantial damage in a small AoE. This skill can often 1 shot enemies if it Crits. A great way to get an easy kill on turn 1 or 2.

Superconductor- Really good damage in a large AoE around the player and only has a 3 turn cooldown. This is a great way toStunnearly every enemy around you in one turn. If not, follow up withVacuum AuratoSilenceand/orStunthem.

Chain Lightning- Hits up to 8 targets and has extremely good range. The damage on this skill is also higher than all butClosed Circuit(which has a very small AoE). Use this when you may’t seem to get close to your targets.

Miscellaneous Skills

Rain- Make targetsWet, which increases yourAir Damageto them, andStunsenemies who have already beenShocked(or allows targets to becomeStunnedinstead ofShocked). Can also help create a surface forElemental Affinity.

Armour of Frost- A great way to buff up yourMagic Armour. This is great because it’s mages that you really have to worry about since melee and ranged cannot hit you easily.

Tactical Retreat- This is a great skill to close the gap between you and your prey. Also grantsHastewhich is just fantastic because you will need all the AP you can get.

Final Tips

When you start a fight it’s a good idea to lead withRainto make targets less resistant to Air Damage (note this will also reduce yours as well, so be sure you have good resistance to begin with). I like to useErratic Wispat this point to buff myAir Resistanceby 40%, which really helps you not kill yourself! Then I follow up withTactical Retreatif I know I can AoE a few targets by doing so, but if not then I’ll useElectric DischargeorDazing Boltto try to eliminate one target quickly and then useUncanny Evasion. If I jumped in, then I’ll cast eitherBlinding RadianceorVacuum Auraand finish up withUncanny Evasion.

On turn 2 I either useVacuum AuraorSuperconductorfor another devastating AoE (useTeleportationbeforehand if you need to move more enemies in range). Then I end theEvasive Auraso that I cannot be struck for another enemy round. Then turn three it’s another AoE if I need one, or I pick off targets as necessary or useChain Lightningif they are spread out a bit. Enemies should beSilenced,ShockedandStunnedmost of this time so you’ll hardly ever take damage that you don’t inflict upon yourself.

All these Status Effects can be applied with regularity in this Build, and I didn’t even mention Suffocating because it’s pretty terrible.

Stormchasersdo devastating damage andStunso many targets they can be a lot of fun to play. The danger with thisBuildis that you can easily wipe out all of yourMagic ArmourorStunyourself if you aren’t careful. This is one of the reasons you need to stackAir Resistancewhen playing one, and one of the reasons a coupleAerotheurge SkillsgrantAir Resistance. You also have to watch out for your party member(s) when using thisBuildbecause you could easily electrify them, which is why I recommend playingLone Wolf. I also suggest, if you are playing duo, that the other character is some sort of ranged character to keep them out of harms way.

you may addOpportunistand play thisBuildwith a Staff if you desire, but there are a couple issues with it: 1) you usually don’t get many uses of it per fight because things die relatively quickly anyway, 2) thisBuildis short onTalentsas it is because there are so many that are good, so you’ll have to sacrifice another greatTalentfor this one 3) you’ll have less defense than you would with a Shield leaving you with an extremely low amount ofPhysical Armour, which you shouldn’t need but you never know when things might not go according to plan. If you do use a Staff, however, I recommend addingWhirlwindfor some extra AoE.

Lastly, ideally you’d want to play thisBuildasBeastbecause he comes with theSpecial SkillBlinding Squall, which also does Air Damage andBlindstargets in an AoE. Another good choice for thisBuildisElfso that you can make use of theFlesh Sacrificeskill. You can play thisBuildas anyRace, but those are the two I would recommend.
