Creating new enchanted armor and weapons inThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remasteredis a great way to power up your gear on your journey. When using enchantments, it is important to know that you can use almost any available spell you have unlocked, but you must be able to cast it. There are a few ways to enchant your gear, but there are also some things you’ll need to know before you get started.

Enchanting Your Armor and Weapons With Altars
The fastest and easiest way to enchant will be in the Imperial City.
The first and easiest way to enchant your gear is to join the Mages Guild. Once you have joined the guild, you will have access to an area within The Arcane University namedChironasium. This building will have4 Altars of Enchantingfor you to use, but these will have some requirements when you begin using the altars.
Once all 4 of these are completed, you will then have your selected pieces of gear with your favorite spells bound to them. It should be noted that you’re able to increase your base stats with armor enchantments, but stats like Strength will receive certain bonuses. For example, if your Strength is already at 100, and you enchant your armor to have Strength bonuses, you will not gain extra damage with blunt weapons. However, you will gain a significant boost to your carrying weight.
Using Sigil Stones to Enchant Gear
Sigil Stones are a great way to get enchantments not available at altars.
The second option for gaining enchantments is more random, but will offer the bonus of not needing the spells or soul gems to charge the weapons and armor. Sigil Stones will come with two available enchantments when you use them: one option for your weapons and one option for your armor. These are also things that are set when you pick up the stone itself within the Oblivion gate.
It is possible to reroll the stats that these stones will offer you by saving before you pick them up, allowing you to keep attempting to find better enchantment options for your character. While these do have the ability to provide some powerful enchantments for your armor, they are less effective when providing weapon enchantments.
The most effective and powerful weapon enchantments you can make will be from using altars and editing the potency of each part of the weapon enchantment independently.
Both options are relatively easy to do to gain some powerful gear. The only issue with Sigil Stones is the length of time it will take to not only get the stone, but also get effects that will benefit you. Unless you are incredibly stealthy and quick, you will be required to fight through the entire Oblivion Gate. If you don’t get the effects you desire, you’ll then need to reload your save to try again until you’ve gotten enchantment options that work well with your build. The best early game option for reliability, while being more resource-heavy, will be joining the Mages Guild and using their Altars for smaller and more meaningful enchantments.
