Best Ways to Level to 100 in FFXIV: Dawntrail
Sometimes the grind is all you need, but these are the most efficient ways to level in FFXIV: Dawntrail.
The Cloud of Darkness Returns
The big new piece of content released in the 7.1 patch cycle, specifically one week after 7.15, will be the Chaotic Alliance Raid. This is a raid that can be completed with upwards of 24 players, and as low as 12. Depending on how many players there are in an instance, the raid’s difficulty will scale. Additionally, the reward structure looks much better than the Criterion dungeons from theprevious expansion.
The rewards will unlock new item level 730 gear, which could very well adjust the current BiS of certain classes. On top of that, new mounts, minions and hairstyles will be tied to the raid. Don’t fret if you don’t get any of the drops, as there are tokens that can be earned every time completing the raid, not too dissimilar to the books you get from Savage Raid, allowing you to exchange them for goodies at a vendor. Best yet, there’s no weekly limit to this, so you’re able to farm it as much as possible, and the number of tokens dropped will be increased if there are multiple players who have yet to complete it. This will no doubt be one of the biggest draws of the 7.1 series, being the big new type of content Square Enix has promised.

PVP Adjustments
PVP is one of the few things in Final Fantasy XIV that players have a tough time getting into. It’s by far the least popular major aspect of the MMORPG, which I suppose isn’t too uncommon for social and raid-based games such as this. Square Enix continues to push forward with content, hoping to entice them to get into it, though.
For starters, hit detection will be updated in 7.1 to be more responsive, as the hit detection will better match the visual effects. Square Enix is also removing various actions from each job and significantly rebalancing each job along with their limit breaks. Damage taken and received will be altered, along with the amount of limit break gauge you earn from Frontline and Rival Wings.

As for the more popular Crystalline Conflict, Series 7 will begin and with it comes a slew of adjustments. For example, the Cloud Nine and Red Sands maps will see adjustments to their designs. Ranked matches will also now take place on a single datacenter:
Ranking and Rewards will also be adjusted per region, with Oceania being the same.

Glamour Update
Everyone loves a good glamour. It’s what the majority of the Final Fantasy XIV community lives for: looking good. With patch 7.1, there is one specific glamour update that we’re excited to see implemented: gear combinations.
If your glamour dresser is like ours, it’s probably packed to the brim with pieces of gear that you love to slot into in very specific situations. Well, now it’s a little better as full sets of gear will only take up a single slot versus taking up each individual piece. This means you can input an entire set and still have a lot more room to fill the dresser up. With that said, you will need the entire set in order for this to work, and it’s primarily aimed towards level 1 glamour pieces at the moment. Hopefully, this will apply to all sets in the future, as having a full set of raid gear for each class in each tier of each expansion costs very much as it is.

Miscellaneous Announcements
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrailis available right now with the 7.1 patch cycle starting November 12. The new content will be available only to those with a copy, but most of the quality-of-life updates will be made available to everyone.
