The latest Genshin Impact leaks for version 5.8 suggest it may introduce a brand-new playable character, two character skins, and a map expansion. According to the details shared by Team Mew and confirmed by HxG_Diluc, the forthcoming character may be from the Electro element, and her kit may focus on an overlooked elemental reaction.

Genshin Impact 5.8 Leak Hints at a New Character and More
Recently, prominent leaker Team Mew shared key details on their Telegram channel about the Genshin Impact 5.8 update, which is expected to be released onJuly 30, 2025. According to their information, the patch may introduce a new playable character from the Electro element, and her name may be either Yennefer or Ineva. While not much has been disclosed about her skillset, the leaker suggests that her gameplay may focus on the Electro-Charged elemental reaction, which triggers when Electro comes into contact with Hydro.
Considering that the Electro-Charged elemental reaction has long been eclipsed by other reactions, it isn’t surprising that HoYovere wishes to release a character that would bring the Electro-Charged reaction back into relevance. A great example of this isSkirk, who is set to be released in version 5.7 and is expected to bring Frozen reaction teams to the meta.

Apart from that, Team Mew suggests that Yelan and Bennett may get new character skins in version 5.8. While Yelan’s outfit may be a paid offering that can be bought from the in-game shop in exchange for Genesis Crystals, it is speculated that players will receive Bennett’s outfit for free by participating in the flagship event, which is likely to include him in a key role.
Lastly, the leaker disclosed that a new map expansion may be added to the title in the 5.8 update, featuring the elusive Mare Jivari region. It is said to be a desolate wasteland with seas of flames where the wind does not blow. The region has already been mentioned in the storyline a few times, and the leak suggests that this area may hold the burial site for the Eternal Moon Goddess.
