Genshin Impact teased fans with some of the upcoming abilities players will have access to in the upcoming Patch 3.0.

Genshin Impact Starts 3.0 Previews with New Dendro Abilities and Reactions

WhileGenshin Impact’s version 2.8 updateis still coming this week, that hasn’t stopped HoYoVerse from teasing its fanbase about things to come later this year. The highly anticipated version 3.0 will have massive changes in the amount of new content and things to interact with existing features.

Arguably the most significant addition to Genshin Impact’s “Sumeru” update would be introducing a new playable element: Dendro. The developers are calling this “the last piece of the puzzle” in terms of Genshin’s seven-element system.

Dendro Flash

The Traveler’s New Dendro

Even though Dendro existed even after the initial launch, its applications were limited. In combat, Dendro’selemental reactionsincombatwere only limited to burning when hit with Pyro skills. It had no other known interactions and has noplayable charactersthat could make use of this element.

Coming in Genshin Impact’s 3.0 update will be new Dendro skills for the player character, theTraveler. Prior to this update, they could make use of Anemo, Geo and Electro abilities. Our first skill looks like a conical AoE that inflicts Dendro damage. It is basic, and unsure if there will be additional special ways of activating this (such as holding down the cast button).

Create a Gigantic Seed

The Traveler’s Burst ability looks like it creates a large Dendro-based AoE centered around a massive plant. It actually looks quite similar toLisa’s burst, though hers is an electrified lantern that floats in the air.

New Genshin Impact Elemental Reactions

So, the more important question is: how will Dendro interact with the other elemental effects now that it’s getting expanded?

We will be getting two new Elemental Reactions in the 3.0 Patch. These are Bloom and Catalyze. The former is triggered when mixed with Hydro, and the latter happens when combined with Electro.

New Bloom Seed

Bloom reactions create small floating seeds that can be used for follow-up attacks. When the Bloom Seed is hit with a Pyro element, it will explode and cause AoE damage to nearby targets. If the Seed is energized with Electro, it creates a small homing missile that looks for the closest enemy instead.

Catalyze on the other hand bathes targets in green lightning, indicating that they’ve been affected by some sort of status effect. This time around it isn’t quite clear what Catalyze’s effects on enemies are. It might not be a damage over time skill, since Burning already exists. Perhaps it’s a sort of damage amplification effect or something that causes attacks to hit the target multiple times?

Genshin Impact is Getting New Reactions

Dendro doesn’t seem to have any special interactions with Geo, Anemo, or Cryo.

World of Dendro

Genshin Impact’s 3.0 update will also affect the world ofTeyvatin different ways. It will introduce an entirely new region, Sumeru. This will be the game’s fifth region, the others beingMondstat,Liyue,Inazuma, andEnkanomiya.

The jungle region of Sumeru was actually already teased back in early July, at the end of Version 2.8’s Special Program Livestream. Footage showed off some heavily forested areas with dense foliage. The land is filled with ancient ruins, huge amounts of flora and fauna, as well as unique architecture, befitting the jungle setting.

Jungles of Sumeru

The new Dendro reactions will also interact with this strange new region. For example, various plants (specifically mushrooms) are infused with Dendro. These plants will transform into different states entirely when hit with different elements. Watering them with Hydro creates a Bloom Seed, blasting with Pyro withers them, and charging them with Electro energizes them. Each state will have an entirely different effect.

Dendro enemies themselves will change as well based on the element they’re hit with, changing their appearance and attack patterns. Specific loot also drops on enemies in different elemental states, so that’s another unique thing to watch out for.

The Most Impactful Genshin

While Genshin Impact 3.0 is still far away (no specific date has been mentioned), fans should be happy to hear that version 2.8 is still going as planned.Patch 2.8 will be arriving on July 13, just a couple of days away.

Though this version will not introduce a 5-Star Character, its banner will contain the first meleecatalysthero,Shikanoin Heizou. Joining him in the banner will beKaedehara Kazuha(also Anemo),Ningguang(Geo), andThoma(Pyro). Be sure to drop ourGenshin Impact wikifor all the latest info.
