Released back in 2020 for Early Access, and eventually coming to fruition in 2022, this survival experience that was essentially a video game rendition of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids ended up being surprisingly enjoyable as you found your way through your backyard of horrors. This shrunk a handful of kids to miniature size and puts them up against insects and hazardous environments. While you fought giant spiders and traversed ant farms, you uncovered the mysteries of how this came to be and the experiments that were happening in your own backyard.

Xbox Game Showcase 2025
During Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Xbox announced a follow-up to Grounded, featuring even more weaponry, a brand-new setting, and the same shrunken kids surviving the most horrific situations. You’ll still be fighting the same old bugs, with additional ones like praying mantises and cockroaches, but now you’ll have more capabilities, such as befriending and riding ants, all while they help you fight.
With the announcement, Obsidian Entertainment (with a partnership with Eidos-Montreal) also released a reveal trailer, showcasing everything you may expect from the upcoming sequel. It goes over the events that transpired in the first game, but quickly transitions to a local park where an explosion has taken place, indicating that will be the backdrop for Grounded 2.

Shrinking to Greater Heights
The trailer showcases the various new animal life, such as what we talked about, along with caterpillars, scorpions and more. Players will also be traversing various new environments, from a mountain of spilled-over ice cream, meant to be a snowy mountain, to some of the technologies left around the world. All of this is to uncover the mystery that is surrounding Grounded 2.
There will also be new weapons, what looks like swords crafted from some of the deadly creatures, along with new projectile weapons and armor. This should expand the already impressive arsenal and creativity the first game used from stripping down the wildlife in the original Grounded.
As always, this is a survival game, so players will also be tasked with building structures and settlements to maintain their resources, all while defending them from wildlife. Everything that was built could come toppling down if setting up camp in the wrong spot or leave it unguarded.
This is shaping up to be a huge year for Obsidian Entertainment as they recently releasedAvowedin February with Outer Worlds 2 landing on October 29. On top of that, Grounded 2 is slated to release next month of July 29 for Game Preview (essentially Early Access).
