WhileMonster Hunter Wildshas made some significant and small changes to the tried-and-true formula of hunting monsters, it has also retained a lot of the core aspects. For starters, crafting is a huge component to the experience, as what kind of kit you go into a hunt with can help immensely. Whether it’s bringing along drugs that increase your defense or traps to incapacitate monsters for a short while, there’s no shortage of ways to be creative in a fight.

What are Sleep Herbs?

Sleep Herbs are an important material in the Monster Hunter universe, one that is used to craft Tranq Bombs. Tranq bombs are used sparingly because of the nature of collecting the materials needed to craft them, being relatively timely. They are a little tricky to find just because there are only a couple of portions of each map that grow them, but once you have a good route to collect them, they will benefit you greatly.

This is because Tranq Bombs are used for capturing monsters. While the game is called Monster Hunter, capturing monsters is far more efficient. This is because capturing monsters will yield more materials, all while not actually killing the monster, but incapacitating it for a short while. Better yet, if you play a class like Light Bowgun or Heavy Bowgun, you’re able to craftSleep Ammothat can also be used to incapacitate monsters.

Where to Find Sleep Herbs

Most maps in Monster Hunter Wilds have at least a couple of Sleep Herbs in the environment to be harvested, but there are definitely better and denser locations that you can yield more for your time investment.

Iceshard Cliffs

Without doubt, the best area to collect Sleep Herbs is the Cliffs. There are exactly three locations spread throughout the Cliffs map where you’ll be able to find the crafting material. On the second level, you’ll find Sleep Herbs in the6, 13 and 15 areas. When dropping from the main camp, you should head towards the 13 marker and then swing towards 15. There’s only a singular Sleep Herb in area 6, so it’s more optional than anything. Still, because of how rare this material is in the world, one can go a long way.

Windward Plains

The next best area you should hit up if you’re light on Sleep Herbs is the Plains. This is nowhere near the amount you can expect from the Cliffs, but it’s only because there’s only one location here you can find the Herbs. Specifically, inarea 10, across the river, you’ll come across three instances of the Sleep Herb. Two are along the river while one is more towards the mountains in the back. Because it’s relatively close to the main base, you can get to it pretty quickly, but even if that’s too much of a trek for you, there is a camp that can be set up right in the middle of area 10.

Scarlet Forest

The forest map is only here if you’re desperate to get some Sleep Herbs as it by far has the fewest Sleep Herbs. It’s strange considering this is a forest, so you’d expect a lot of wildlife and nature to flourish here, but more than anything, it’s the shrooms and beetles that take over the map. Regardless, there is a single Sleep Herb in the Scarlet Forest, at least on the ground floor, located in area 7. It’s just south of the buildable camp in the area, so if you have already unlocked it, it’s a very quick get. Otherwise, it’s not entirely worth it to go out of the way to get this singular herb. The other location has two Sleep Herbs, but it’s somewhat of a hassle to get there. These are found east ofarea 18up in the trees.

Unfortunately, past these three locations, it’s very difficult to find any Sleep Herbs in any of the other areas. TheIceshard Cliffsshould be your first destination if you’re looking for Sleep Herbs, because there are a handful of spots where they can be harvested. The Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest are also decent options, but they’re more used for collecting other materials for crafting, such asParashroomorAntidote Herb.
