Sneak Skill Mastery Perks
The skill does provide some solid bonuses that make it worth leveling.
Perk Unlocked
Hitting enemies while undetected deals extra damage, particularly with daggers.
Apprentice
Your sneak attacks are a lot deadlier.
Journeyman
You make less noise while sneaking.
You are harder to detect in bright environments.
Your sneak attacks ignore the opponent’s armor.
While most of these mastery perks are geared towards stealth combat, you’ll want to note what the Journeyman and Expert perks entail. These will not only make the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests easier to complete, but also allow you to steal a good amount of items in broad daylight in front of NPCs. Sneak is a fantastic perk to help you make more gold when you need some quickly.
Fastest Ways to Level Sneak
Sneaking will gain a small amount of exp per second that you are moving undetected around NPCs.
There are a variety of ways you can naturally level this skill while playing the game. The main issue with this is that you won’t gain any experience if you are detected by NPCs, meaning you have to find the sweet spot to gain these bonuses. You can crouch and sneak while exploring the wilderness. However, this will inflate the time you use exploring that could be used to level yourAthletics, making this option less viable and more time-consuming. What you may want to do if you want to level Sneak is to spend time leveling the skill in less conventional ways. Things you can do will include the following:
Sneaking into a forbidden area that you have broken into is also viable. NPCs may get up to confront you, which may cause more trouble than it is worth in comparison to your other options.
Another solid way to level Sneak quickly will be located in Leyawiin. There is a spot near the Northeast Gate of town that will be perfect for you to sneak during all hours of the day. A guard will always be posted near the gate, and you may crouch behind a small wall just west of their location. Here, you can use the Auto-Run key to allow your character to move passively, and when done right, you will get caught on the wall. There are small pillars on your left and right that will stop you from moving further, and if you move your camera just slightly, your character will automatically slide left or right.
This is possibly one of the fastest ways to artificially level Sneak. You’ll be able to crouch down here with minimal activity from other NPCs, meaning they’ll spot you less frequently, and you can level very quickly. While all the manners listed are very viable, the location in Leyawiin does give you that nice spot in a safe area where unexpected occurrences are not going to happen.
