Noah Schnapp, the 18-year-oldStranger Thingsstar, recently come out as gay via a video shared through his TikTok.Through the video, Noah Schnapp shared,“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know'”.

The video caption noted,“I guess I’m more similar to will than I thought”,a reference to the character he played inStranger Things. Will Byers, the character Schnapp played, is also portrayed as gay which gets slowly revealed in the later part of the series.

In an interview withVariety,Noah Schnapp confirmed that in the last two episodes of the fourth season, Will Byers is gay and in love with his best friend Mike, played by Finn Wolfhard. He, later on, said,

“Obviously, it was hinted at in Season 1: It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends? Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike.”

Noah Schnapp also shared with us that he did not know where Ross Duffer, the director wanted to go with the character, and he was figuring out the character as the show proceeded along with the audience. Schnapp also adds that the character was built slowly and beautifully over the years and people loved it.

“Something that Noah has always done so well is made me feel so comfortable, so empowered, and you know, he is an amazing co-star to riff off of. He has always been my biggest supporter, cheering me on.”
