Despite no one being able to agree on whether the Marvel Cinematic Universe “is cooked” or “has cooked,” one thing that is undeniable is that the pull of the comic book franchise is still very apparent onDisney+. Superhero fatigue may be a keyword for those who just want to constantly trash the franchise for continuing to put out similar stories around the same characters – a bit like comic books have done for over 70 years – but currently there are still plenty of people watching what Marvel is…, well, cooking.
‘Ironheart’ Flip Flops on Rotten Tomatoes After Review-Bombing
The latest MCU series premiered its first three episodes on Disney+ this week, and the reviews are still pouring in.
While both releases suffered a fair amount of negative press, it seems that the loud voices are certainly not in the majority when it comes to fans’ love of anything and everything Marvel Studios releases – even if some of them would rather make a deal with the devil than admit it.

‘Ironheart’ & ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Mixed Reactions
Brave New WorldandIronheart, along withThunderbolts*, rounded outa rocky Phase 5 of the MCUahead of Phase 6 opener,The Fantastic Four: First Steps,in a couple of weeks. While the next phase will go full throttle into the grand finale of the troubled Multiverse Saga, the last entries in Phase 5 were all multiverse free, but just as divisive as people have come to expect.
Captain America: Brave New World, Anthony Mackie’s first outing as the replacement for Chris Evans’ shield-carrying Avenger, had plenty of weight resting on its shoulders. It was the first release since the mightyDeadpool & Wolverineand had to remind people that not every character in the MCU has an awareness of the multiverse, unlike viewers. The film received only 47% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, but audiences were much more happy, as could be seen in the 77% on the Popcornmeter.

Ironheart, however, was a complete reverse ofBrave New World. The continuation of Riri Williams’ story following her adventure with the Wakandans inBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreverreally scored well with critics (82%) and it was audiences who dragged it down with a split 50%. Eventhe arrival of Mephisto(Sacha Baron Cohen) after so many years of teasing couldn’t sway some people.
Despite all that though, the middling box office performance ofBrave New Worldand the online trolling ofIronhearthaven’t prevented the pair topping the Disney+ chart above more recent additions such as the even more divisiveSnow White, and classics likeIndependence DayandThe Parent Trap, which have recently risen in the list. Maybe the main takeaway from all this is that the MCU isn’t quite as out of time as some would suggest.
