Meanwhile, many fans have been hoping that Depp will return for anotherPirates of the Caribbeanfilm now that he’s getting back into starring in films. During his trial, Depp testified that Disney had fired him from playing Captain Jack Sparrow because of the allegations of abuse leveled against him by Amber Heard. After Depp came out ahead of Heard in court, there was a renewed calling for him to return to the franchise, but he testified thathe felt “betrayed"by the firing, casting doubt over his willingness to revisit that role at this point.
“Captain Jack Sparrow was a character I built from the ground up and was something that I, of course, put a lot of [myself] into the character and also having worked on these films with these people and added much of myself, much of my own re-writing of the dialogue and scenes and jokes,” Depp testified. “I didn’t quite understand how, after that long relationship and quite a successful relationship certainly for Disney, that suddenly I was guilty until proven innocent.”
