The Hugh Jackman-led and James Mangold-directedLogan(2017) was the end of Wolverine’s story. Starring Patrick Stewart as Professor X, the film is barely connected to Fox’sX-Menuniverse. But it’s also connected enough to assume that it’s set in the future of the same. The film is globally beloved for being a tearjerker and grossed $614 million on a $127 million budget.

However, it’s not going to be the end of Jackman’s Wolverine’s story. Ryan Reynolds is bringing back the character in hisDeadpool 3.There has been plenty of discourse about the decision, especially becauseLoganwas the best farewell a character of that caliber could get. However, turns out, even Mangold was planning such a team-up years ago.
LoganDirector Was Interested In A Wolverine-Deadpool Team-Up Years Ago
Inverse reportedJames Mangoldsaying that one of the ideas he discussed with Hugh Jackman, even while makingLogan, was a sort of team-up film with Deadpool and Wolverine. He said:
“I’ve made a bunch of movies with Hugh Jackman now. We’re good friends and we talked a lot. And one of the things we talked about a lot, even while we were making Logan, was the idea of how joyful a kind of Midnight Run or 48 Hrs. with Deadpool and Logan would be. So I completely understand those guys chasing that idea.”
