Capcom unveiled a website celebrating the Monster Hunter series 20th anniversary in March 2024 but no new title was announced at TGS 2023.
Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary Website Revealed But No New Game
As with any major game show, rumours were rampant for a new Monster Hunter. A new website has launched celebrating 20 years of the franchise, but no new title was announced at TGS 2023 this time.
20 Years of Monster Hunting in March 2024
The first MH game was released in 2004 for the Playstation 2 on March 11th in Japan. The franchise has since seen a number of games with the most recent being the mobile title Monster Hunter Now which got its full launch on September 14th.
The mainline titleMonster Hunter Risewas released in 2021 for the Nintendo Switch, later coming to PC, Xbox Series, PS5, Xbox One and PS4. An expansion calledSunbreaklater released in 2022 for Switch and PC, then just this year in April for console platforms. The expansion brought a new area calledElgado, new monsters and some fan favourites including theChaotic Gore Magala. Thefinal digital eventwas in June this year, wrapping up the final updates for both MH Rise and Sunbreak.
New Game Announcement in 2024?
This would mean a new MH entry is not far off. However, at TGS 2023 the website for the 20th-anniversary of the Monster Hunter games launched along with the official X (Twitter) account sharing art commemorating the anniversary.
