The creators of the highly-anticipatedMonster Hunter: WorldRPG has chimed in on their stance on the microtransaction and loot box system that has become pervasive in today’s gaming world.

Monster Hunter: World- Play To Win!

Game Director Yuuya Tokuda and Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto; in an interview conducted by Gamespot,  explained that with such systems, players may miss out on the actual gaming experience.

“We want people to have the experience that we’ve made for them rather than the option to skip the experience.”

They also explained that a randomized system is already in place inMH:W,  only difference is that you’d just have to play  for it.

“I think that Monster Hunter has already built that kind of randomized, item reward into the gameplay”  Tsujimoto goes on “Whenever you carve a monster after a hunt, you don’t know what you’re gonna get within a certain range.”

The game’s Director Tokuda then expressed how it conflicts with the core gameplay ofMonster Hunter.

“I wouldn’t see a paid loot box or paid system for getting random items as fittingMonster Hunterbecause it isn’t a game where the strength of the items is the key aspect of how you proceed”  said Tokuda

Tokuda later expands onMonster Hunter’s  core gameplay as a rewarding experience.

“The idea is that the time you spend hunting and the action part of the game is how you brush up on your skills. And then of course you get rewards of better items”

It’s nice to see such a big title opt-out of the microtransaction trend, which both Monolith’sMiddle-earth: Shadow of Warand Bungie’sDestiny 2has had weaved into their gameplay.
