TheAlienfranchise’s first steps onto the small screen are coming up quickly, and fans are getting a good look at the IP’s future. The FX and Hulu seriesAlien: Earthis taking the sci-fi horror franchise from the mind of executive producer Ridley Scott to uncharted territory: Planet Earth. Show creator Noah Hawley will usher the Xenomorph-filled universe into a new age with new monsters. InAlien: Earth,which is set before the events of the originalAlienin 2120, a ship with five monsters collected from “the darkest corners of the universe” crash lands on Earth. While fans know one of the monsters, the iconic Xenomorph, very well, the other four remain a mystery.

The series' second trailer shows off bits and pieces of the new monsters that will run loose on the planet we call home. Hawley’s series tackles “the emergence of the story’s infamous Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the race between corporations to create new android life,” while also introducing four brand-new intergalactic monsters to human and synthetic characters. The official plot synopsis forAlien: Earthreads:

“Five corporations – Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold – wield the power of nations, and proprietary advancements in technology provide the promise of a new tomorrow. Alien vs. Predator: Which Monster Has the Better Sci-Fi Franchise?

With the ‘Alien’ and ‘Predator’ series having rebounded in recent years, which sci-fi horror series is the winner?

Unless the Xenomorph gets to the other alien monsters first, audiences can expect to meet more than just one threat. With a stellar cast, including Syndey Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, and Babou Ceesay, the horror sci-fi series looks like it will expand theAlienfranchise even more than past projects. The series might even be thelastAlienproject original director Scott will have a hand in.Alien: Earthwill premiere with its first two episodes on August 12 on FX and Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally. The First ‘Alien’ Series Is Making a Grand Entrance

With thesequel to Fede Álvarez’sAlien: Romulusin the works, the sci-fi franchise doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. So, the ambitious series might catapult the Xenomorph-centric franchise into a new era of storytelling. And it looks like fans are here for it. While taking a film franchise to streaming series territory might not always mean that the quality or the content stays the same, everything fans have seen fromAlien: Earthhas been more than promising. With Ridley Scott still having a guiding hand in the project, the series might turn out just a good as one of the recent films.

However, there is still much to be proven byAlien’s transition into uncharted territory. Fans will no doubt have high expectations for series, but withFargo’s Noah Hawley on the case, it seems likeAlien: Earthwill be a hit for sci-fi horror fans everywhere.
