To help celebrate his 45th birthday,Pac-Manis joiningSuper Monkey Ball Banana Rumbleas a playable character. Instead of bananas on-screen, however, there will be white pellets and a cherry in place of a Golden Banana. This will be part of the 2.20 update going live, which also added the Floral Ring as a Robot Smash Battle Mode stage.
Pac-Man will be a paid DLC character on the Nintendo eShop when he joins AiAi’s party in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble. Additionally, the Floral Ring stage will added for free as part of the 2.20 update as well as “additional adjustments and bug fixes” as well.
Despite releasing last summer, this Sega game is still getting updates to this day. Those intrigued by this chaotic puzzle game can try out a demo for free from theNintendo eShop. It includes the first three levels of Worlds of Adventure, in addition to a few select items. If you decide to get the full game, you can thankfully transfer your save data to the full game, similar to Koei Tecmo RPGAtelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land.
Review: Pac-Man Championship Edition 2
Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 represents another strong, well-produced arcade title for this classic character, cementing his continued relevance.
Before Pac-Man, a bunch of SEGA characters and a few third party icons have shown up in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble. They include the likes of Sonic, Majima from Like a Dragon, Shadow the Hedgehog, Jet Set Radio’s Beat, Hatsune Miku, Knuckles and the Crewmate from Among Us. Godzilla has even made his presence known, who has also made appearances inDave the DiverandFall Guys.
Pac-Man Celebrates a Major Anniversary
Bandai Namco mascot Pac-Man will be turning 45 in 2025. He has since had his own 3D platforming series called Pac-Man World and has been featured as a playable character in Mario Kart Arcade, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, andSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS. He’s even playable as a fighter in Street Fighter x Tekken, for better or for worse.
On July 17, 2025, he took over the arcades with his game’s highly replayable gameplay and challenging design.
Despite his lengthy history as an arcade character, Pac-Man will be featured in an upcoming dark take on the hero inShadow Labyrinth. Pac-Man genuinely looks creepy as he turns into a horrifying monster towards the end of the reveal trailer. Most of the time, however, he’s his classic yellow self, eating up pellets alongside a sword-wielding protagonist.
Pac-Man’s last outing in the Pac-Man World was with the subtitle Re-Pac. “This is low-key one of the most diverse and enjoyable 3D platformers on the market and should be enjoyed by everyone who missed out on it in its time,” saidour review.
Fans can download the Pac-Man DLC for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Rumble on the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, the game hasn’t been ported to other systems like PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and the Xbox Series X|S.
