Roaring Moon is one of the new Paradox Pokémon introduced in Generation Nine. Thought to be a past relative of Salamence, this ancient beast is a Dragon and Dark type. While some other Paradox Pokémon are a little overhyped there’s no doubt that Roaring Moon is one of the best Pokémon of its generation. There is no easy way to shut down a Roaring Moon. It has great defensive typing that resists Dark, Electric, Fire, Ghost, Grass, and Water while providing immunity to Psychic-type moves. Even scarier is its Base Stats, which total an impressive 590. Its spectacular base 139 Attack and rapid base 119 Speed make it an ideal choice for sweeping and revenge killing.
Roaring Moon also has good bulk with 101 base Special Defense and 105 base HP. Combo this with its versatile moveset that includes Dragon Dance and you are left with a true monster. Roaring Moon has very few weaknesses inPokémon ScarletandVioletand can easily wipe your whole team if you aren’t prepared.
Thankfully, Roaring Moon isn’t without some flaws.For one its typing leaves it weak to Bug, Dragon, Fighting, Fairy, and Ice. Dragon, Fairy, and Ice are all common offensive types that should be covered by most teams.Its weakness to Fairy is particularly significant as it’s a 4x weakness.
The other major weakness of Roaring Moon inPokémon ScarletandVioletis its average physical bulk.Although Roaring Moon can easily tank Special Attackers, it can struggle against physical moves. This is because its base 71 Defense just isn’t enough to handle the top-tier physical attackers.
