Fromsoftware, the creators ofElden Ring,Bloodborne,Sekiro, andDark Soulsare already working on several new games. We’ve known this since late 2024, when Hidetaka Miyazaki himself confirmed that multiple projects were in development simultaneously… but none of them isBloodborne 2.

FromSoftware Has an Unannounced Game in Advanced Development

One of them isElden Ring: Nightreign, which has been receiving post-launch support since May (such as the latest patch). Another is the promising Nintendo Switch 2 exclusiveThe Duskbloods.

Now, a new report fromMP1STindicates that a third game is also in development at FromSoftware — and it’s already in an advanced phase. While it’s not guaranteed for 2026, it’s said to possibly arrive even beforeThe Duskbloods, as it has reportedly completed production.

This is a multiplatform title with the codename"FMC". Nothing else is known, but this cryptic codename might reveal more than it seems if we look at the internal project names FromSoftware has used before.

For example,Elden Ringwas referred to as “GR”,Bloodborneas “SPRJ”, andSekiroas “NTC/NTCG”. Interestingly, the new codename aligns with naming conventions used for both theDark Soulsseries andArmored Core VI.

FromSoftware Is Preparing a New Multiplatform Game

Since allDark Soulsgames (including the original trilogy and the remaster of the first) have had a codename starting with the letter F, it’s possible that FromSoftware’s new project is a remaster from theSoulsfranchise.

Dark SoulsandDark Souls II(to some extent) have already been remastered, so that would leaveDark Souls IIIas the main candidate. Additionally, 2026 marks the game’s tenth anniversary.

A remaster ofDark Souls IIIcould easily match the codename “FMC,” but it’s not the only possibility. Looking closer,Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubiconused the codename “FNR,” which meansFMCcould also point to a newArmored Core title.

TheArmored Corefranchise traditionally releases sequels or direct follow-ups every few years —Fires of Rubiconbeing the rare exception so far.

Fan Theories

Lastly, fans are also hopeful for aDark Souls 4or even a seventhArmored Core, though those are less likely due to how far along this mystery project reportedly is. Furthermore, Hidetaka Miyazaki is believed to be heavily involved withThe Duskbloods, suggesting he may not be directly leadingFMC.

At this stage, aDark Souls IIIremaster or a newArmored Coreinterquel seem like more realistic options than a massive new AAA release. Perhaps we’ll get answers at Tokyo Game Show 2025.

So far,Elden Ring: Nightreignis FromSoftware’s latest release, available onPS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.Keep in mind that Hidetaka Miyazaki still hasn’t made his “ideal fantasy RPG,” so that could also be where things are heading.
