One of the common complaints among die-hardPlayStationfans about the current and previous console generations is the lack of titles from the iconic IPs that once made PlayStation a hub for creative and diverse experiences across multiple genres. This isn’t to say PlayStation Studios doesn’t produce quality games, but there’s a noticeable absence of the charming projects that were still prevalent during the PS3 era.
Astro Bot is the latest title to hark back to some of the best franchises from the original PlayStation. However, these cameos and nods simply aren’t enough. Thankfully, the tide seems to be turning, albeit slowly, as PlayStation is reportedly reviving at least a couple of dormant IPs, according to Andy Robinson of VGC.

Revival of Dormant PlayStation IPs
In the latest episode of VGC: The Video Game Podcast, the crew discussed their hopes for PlayStation releases throughout 2025 and how they’d love for older titles to be revived, including Fat Princess from the PS3.Andy Robinson(VGC Editor-in-chief) chimed in and confirmed that he knows of at least two titles that are currently being developed based on “deep deep cut old IP”. So, essentially, these aren’t exactly AAA budget titles but smaller releases that they can take risks with. This lines up with what PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst recentlyconfirmed in a Famitsu interviewrecognizing the importance of older PlayStation IPs.
Whether these revival projects are new experiences, remasters, or remakes, we’ll find out soon enough throughout 2025. With that said, here is our unreasonable wishlist of IPs for these potential revivals:
