“These comments fill us with optimism,” they said. “For the first time, one of our games is becoming a launch title for a new platform.”

What Does Pre-Production Actually Mean?

Things are moving along well, but don’t expect the game to be ready anytime soon—patience is key.

Pre-production is the phase where the creative vision, script, gameplay systems, and the technical and human resources needed for full production are defined—in other words, the groundwork for actual development.

This is just an initial step in a process that will undoubtedly take several years to complete. Remember,The Witcher 4 is expected to release first, and it still has no confirmed date.

Additionally, since this sequel is being developed on a new engine—Unreal Engine 5 instead of REDEngine—the team must adapt to new tools, which means additional time for learning, testing, and fine-tuning.

Lastly, the studio has stated that it has learned from the mistakes made withCyberpunk 2077, and is aiming to create a polished experience from day one—meaning no rushing. In fact, it’s likely that a new anime series in theCyberpunk universe will arrive before Cyberpunk 2does.

Previously, it was revealed that the new —just the first of many new features the sequel will introduce.
