Moss:Oh my God, that scene was just everything. I loved doing that scene, because there is so much going on. You’ve got the discovery, first of all, that your father is alive, which is good news because you have mourned his death for many years. There is joy and happiness there, but it is very quickly followed by the betrayal of the fact that he has been alive and he has been following her. Watching her from afar and not a part of her life. So you have these incredibly massive, quite Shakespearian stakes at play, all in this one scene.

And I don’t think it liberates her or unburdens her, I think it ignites her. I think it gives her a whole new purpose in life to now uncover this part of her existence that she didn’t know about. And answer that question of why did he do it? I think it ignites her, but that is part of who she is as a character. She is not a character that really sits back.

Di Novi:It certainly starts a new chapter to maybe find him or figure it all out, and it is exciting in a way. You see it in her face at the end when she is going to Athens. That is kind of what she is going for.

Moss:And there is satisfaction in knowing that she was right. Because I think she always knew that something was amiss. She always knew that there was something she was being lied to about. So there is deep satisfaction in what she finds.

Will The Veil Get Renewed For Season 2?

The Veil May Follow The Same Path As Shōgun

While the main storyline of the terrorist threat is now over, the show’s revelation that Imogen’s father is alive sets the stage for an interesting follow-up.The MI6 agent’s tragic backstory partially involves her father’s disappearance, with her now focused on pushing down her feelings of being anything more than a government tool. Now that she knows he’s been alive this whole time, her story moving forward could help her wrestle with that past in a way that starts to alter her character.

DespiteThe Veil’s lukewarm critical receptionand miniseries status, the show could continue into season 2 with enough popularity. This is evidenced by FX’s plans to develop season 2 and 3 ofShōgun, another show billed as a limited series released this year. It’s also clear that, given the cliffhanger season 1 of the thriller ends on, there’s much more story to be told with Imogen. Her father’s reemergence could lead to a whole new conspiracy that she has to investigate, and maybe even a global threat she needs to face.

However, with Moss attached toThe Handmaid’s Taleseason 6, which starts shooting later this year, the wait forThe Veilseason 2 might be lengthy no matter what happens. Given the compelling story it sets the stage for, though, it wouldn’t be surprising for FX to renew the show and finish the story its creators have intended for Imogen. With such a massive cliffhanger for the miniseries to end on, it would make more sense to continue the show given how promising its next story sounds.
