Zack Snyder wouldn’t recognize subtlety if it was clutching him by his hair and an overgrown salt-and-pepper beard. The filmmaker whose age has begun to show gracefully has come a long way since hisMan of Steeldays. Marred by personal and professional tragedy, he rose up stronger, undefeated, and reinvigorated toward his love for the artistic medium that has meant so much to so many over the years.

AsRebel Mooninches ever closer toward its epic take-off, Zack Snyder sits down in the midst of a field of wheat planted in the outskirts of a desert town (acres upon acres of it – a philosophy that he also implemented earlier onMan of Steeland helped Nolan with doing the same forInterstellar) and gives a peek into what awaits the audience at the end of the golden horizon.

Zack Snyder Promises Epic Scale and Vision ofRebel Moon

“It’s more of a dieselpunk world than a steampunk world,”saysZack Snyderwhile speaking ofRebel Moon.Nothing this director does seems easy or subtle. His visions are as disarming in their ambition as they are apocalyptic in their potential. Be it the cruelly dysfunctional dystopia of the DCEU or the newly conceivedStar Wars-like universe that breathes down the necks of Netflix producers, it’s all in or nothing for the director. They were promised 2 films (actually, one film in two parts – Netflix couldn’t afford a 4-hour Snyder’s Cut).

If these movies fail to break even and then some, not only will Snyder’s dreams face a premature death (once again) but it will also make him a definitive martyr in the fans’ eyes. And so Snyder gets down to tinkering his world into shape, his characters more depth, and his story a finesse that will be worthy of recreating on 70mm IMAX. The natural thought that comes in the aftermath of such an incredible vision is, of course, the magnitude and scale of the sci-fi epic in its culmination. And the director promises, there will be a little bit of something for everybody.

Rebel MoonDirector’s Cut Holds Surprises For Snyder Fans

Zack Snyder’s director’s cuts have essentially held a form of fascination that Marvel has cultivated with their delightfully post-credits scenes after decades of filmmaking. That theory was proven and established by the 2021 release ofJustice League Snyder’s Cut. 2 years later, the director claimsRebel Moonis no different. There is going to be a final cut followed by something even more delectable for the more mature and selective minds out there who can quickly recuperate and prepare for Round 2 after immersing themselves in the simpler scale of the film:“I think for fans of mine and people who are ready to take a deeper, harder dive, that’ll be fun for them.”

According to the director, the film itself will be approximately 3 hours, give or take, and it will be cut into two parts, with the second part set to be released closely on the heels of the first. Deborah Snyder, the director’s partner in more ways than one, recalled from a conversation between the director and Netflix film chairman, Scott Stuber, in which the filmmaker gave a taste of his film’s plot:“It’s a character story about how people can change, and redemption, and what are you willing to fight for…”

In its short descriptor, it isn’t that different from the superheroic stories kids grow up on, inculcating nuggets of wisdom, and changing and evolving lives for the better.Rebel Moonpromises to be all that and then some.
